Types of Staff Hires

 

Short term emergency

  • Preselect the employee
  • Can work up to 865 hrs
  • No more than 6 mos
  • Process can approximately 1 month from start to finish

Limited hire

  • Need to complete a full recruitment
  • Recruitment can take up to 8 weeks
  • Can work up to 1000 hrs in a 12 month rolling period
  • Can be for 1 year with the possibility of extension depending on funding
  • Process can take approximately a month to a month and a half from start to finish

Career hire

  • Need to complete a full recruitment
  • Recruitment can take up to 8 weeks
  • When funding runs out need to consider layoff options
    • Layoffs take about 6 mos to process
  • Need to consider severance pay as well
  • Process can take approximately 2 months from start to finish

Contract Positions

  • Titles are usually – Community health program reps or analyst
  • Contracts can be for 1 year to 3 years
  • No raises during the contract
  • Process can take approximately 1 month
